If you want to understand my opinion, read on. If not, have a good day.
these are the arguments that have led me to this belief
the cosmological argument: all things require a cause, and an infinite amount of causes can never lead to any one cause, and thus there must be a first mover. This is what we call God. if the universe were infinite, it would take an infinite amount of days to reach today, and therefore we could never reach today.
the moral argument: morality is non-objective unless a supreme moral law exists. if there is no God or being or thing that says murder is wrong, then you cannot say that it is. It is only a matter of opinion if there is no God. if I am king and I say that no one shall buy fruit on Saturday, then no one shall buy fruit on a Saturday. but if a citizen tells their neighbor not to buy fruit on a Saturday, it is a suggestion, or an opinion without the supreme authority of a king to decide.
the Ontological Argument: if you are no more than the sum of your parts, then you are in essence a biological machine. if you can think of something, it must exist already, because a machine cannot truly create a new thought unless it is self aware. if you are a biological machine, you think you are self aware but you are not. therefore, if you can think of the concept of God, God must exist.
I have no problem with evolution as the process by which life emerged, but it does not work as the origin. In my book, God could have just snapped his fingers and the universe emerged to play out in the exact way needed for life to emerge without his interference within it. All he had to do was set up the dominos correctly. Being all knowing that would not be difficult for him. However I think he did interfere within the universe, particularly with humanity. I think he set apart two humans once the human race had evolved enough, and gave them a soul. This took a biological machine and gave them free will, and a consciousness. This gave them the ability to have a real relationship with God and each other. This is ever so important for God, as he cannot make you love him. Love is only love if it is given freely, and to be given freely there must be a free will, or rather a being independent of everything else. I will answer questions if you have them, simply comment below. If you read this far I urge you to seek the truth, and decide for yourself.
