I'm going to examine each of your statements:
You say:<I believe that deep down, Paul knew he was not a true apostle but, to give himself authority, claimed he and Jesus were buddies. They weren’t. I even suspect that Jesus wouldn’t have liked Paul—he was too much like a Pharisee.>
Paul says <9For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:9-10
1 Corinthians 15:8 Paul says... 8 And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
You say <Paul’s personality displayed some characteristics that caused me and several others to label him a braggart, gross exaggerator, and self-promoter.>
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:1And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. a 2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.
< You say of Paul <he was too much like a Pharisee>
This is because he was a Pharisee before he converted
Acts 22:3“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.
The word "Christian" appears in the Bible here and in two other places, even if Paul did not call himself one.
<26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.>
