Really the ultimate energy source is nuclear fusion like what the Sun is powered by, but we should strive to use nuclear fission
Chernobyl failed mainly because it was a f**king cheap plant ran by the Soviets who literally used graphite, which is like extremely cheap and actually works the opposite way as a heat conductor better than a heat resistor as what it was intended for

We have tons of uranium and dwindling reserves of fossil fuels. Nuclear meltdown is NOT likely, does NOT cause nearly as much pollution as fossil fuels do, and living next to a plant is completely safe.
