probably because, according to what I read about it, it literally attempts to block LGBTQ+ resources or helpines?

CHILDREN shouldn’t need LGBTQ “resources and helplines”. I don’t think they should censor anything on a federal level, as that would be a constitutional violation, but it is the parents’ responsibility to keep their kids safe and to educate and support them.

I don't mean children when I say minors, I mean 13-17 year olds
I feel like a 15 year old who might be trans or gay or ace or anything like that has the perfect right to learn more about why they feel that way and what it is so that they don't just live their life believing they're a freak because however they feel isn't in the (arguably VERY black and white) binary of "normal" that they were taught as kids

A 15 year old should still be watching cartoons and playing outside. I’m quite honestly sick of seeing all these kids running around committing to something they don’t even understand. And half the lgbt people (that I know at least) wouldn’t even be a part of that if it wasn’t shoved down their throats like it has been as of late. Both sides need to chill out. I’m okay with gays being gay, but anyone under the age of 18 is under the control of their parents and anyone under the age of 27 Doesn’t even Have a developed brain yet.

Not even gonna bother. You give off vibes of a close-minded right-winger or similar that thinks that they're right and the other side they're arguing with is wrong no matter what and tries to mask that narcissism and act as if they're staying neutral or being considerate about the other side's opinion even though they don't even give a shit about the other side.

"URGENT: Lawmakers have passed the Kids Online Safety Act out of the Senate, a bill that endangers online content about LGBTQ resources, reproductive healthcare, and other lifelines for marginalized communities. We need to stop this dangerous bill in the House.

KOSA won’t make kids more safe. Instead, it’ll put youth in danger by preventing them from accessing resources they need. Concern about young people’s harm from Big Tech are valid and real, but enabling censorship that harms the most marginalized kids is not the answer. Lawmakers concerned about online safety should reject KOSA and instead work to protect all internet users from abusive tech companies by passing a federal data privacy law and measures that do not threaten online communities that queer and trans youth depend on.

Send a letter to your lawmakers now and tell them to reject KOSA!"

in a logical and reasonable way explain how basically blocking access to LGBTQ+ resources or helplines which some minors/teens literally rely on like a lifeline for support and help is a good idea
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y,

It's a good idea because lgtvbbq resources are not issues that children should ever have to deal with, whether they do now or not is inconsequential, children should be learning basic skills like math and logic before having to worry about issues like that, again, whether they do already is inconsequential. And an lgtvbbq "helpline" is basically a source that tells you "oh your fine, be who you wanna be" even though they want actual help because they are considering suicide
[deleted]

when you say "children" even though I said "minors" I assume that you're using the logic that from being born until the day you turn 18 you are still a child, and even though you were a child at 3 you're still a child at 17 (if you are 17), so I actually do believe that minors (generally people aged 13-17) should be able to access helplines and get assistance for issues or anything else.
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y,

And your ignoring the fact that these "resources" cause children (or minors or whatever, same thing) to know too much for their own good, worrying about things that should be inconsequential to them, causing unnecessary stress, and, the potential of suicide, look up the rates of suicide among lgbtq minors versus normal minors
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y,

oh yeah it's so much higher but that's TOTALLY because of LGBTQ+ helplines designed specifically to help them out and it's **definitely** 100% NOT because of queerphobes and bigots mercilessly harassing queer minors and sometimes even accusing trans minors of being pedophiles (such serious accusations can literally ruin someone's life) and in general just sending them death threats and a constant flow of slurs and hatred and attempting to doxx them etc. etc.
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y
See
I knew this would be your answer
It is out of your textbook
But that's aside the point

The idea that every normal person is a "bigot" or "queerphobe" is absurd, and is based off of an over exaggeration, normal people will try to tell you what you do isn't right or is harming you, and the LGBT person will say they are "oppressing" them, straw man fallacy

And having personal experience wanting to kms, I know suicide is most often caused by inwardly targeted depression symptoms, like self harm, and beating one's self up over things you did
This is just my personal experience however, and is not true for every case

by your logic the random 16 year old trans person online is the perpetrator and the 30 year old republican bigot who just called them a bunch of horrible slurs and told them to kill themselves and threatened to doxx them is the victim
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y
Neither are the victim, I never said that the unnecessary harrassment of these people is good, and in this case, there is a legitimate case of victimhood by the random 16yr old, as that behavior is NOT how you take care of these people

I do not condone that shit

dude
what are you on
when I say queerphobes harassing and hating on queer minors I mean exactly that
to reinforce my point, a few months ago I made a twitter account pretending to be trans (I'm not) to see how it would go, and pretty fast (literally within a month if not less) I got sent suicide encouragement, called the t slur, called "epsteinite" etc. etc., and called the n word (sometimes hard R) by people who were under the impression that I was actually trans
that is the type of harassment I'm talking about
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y
I do not condone outright suicide encouragement, those are people who suffer from the opposite kind of brainwashing, to think they should all kts is ridiculous, what they should do, is get some help and the good words of Jesus christ
Normal people do not include those heathen

Queer is brainwashing, the people under this belief are told things like "its always someone else's problem", pure ignorant narcissism, they are made to belive that only their feelings matter and if anyone hurts them, they are oppressed by some "-ism" or
"-phobia"

Also, you think insults are gonna prove anything? Well, all they are proving is your own ignorance
[deleted]

explain how queer is brainwashign
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y
Ok

Queer is this social structure that claims and protects people's abilities to express themselves via lgbtq means, how it does that is due to its premise, everything wrong with you is someone else's fault, as well as that, your emotions are more valid than reason, although not directly Said, it is implied, and if someone does something you don't like, claim it hurt your feelings and that you are "oppressed", in other words playing the victim, another thing to note, is the brainwashing aspect of this system caused by carefully selecting and feeding media or information that supports these narcissistic beliefs, as well as victim roles

Okay mister queerphobe, first off how the hell are you queerphobic when you have catboy in your username and blahaj as your main face and ":3" as your PFP, that's like super gay, and second off if queer people (like me) truly are brainwashed, then why are you berating and harassing them for being brainwahshed as if it's their fault and not trying to help them? Same with them going to hell. Why are people like you always like "GRRR YOU GAY (f slur) YOUR GONNA ROT IN HELL🤬🤬🤬" why are your kind never concerned for us why are you never like "dude yk youre gonna like rot in hell for being queer right like i really dont want that for anyone you should try and change your ways"

More copy and paste from the site:
"Why is KOSA a bad bill?
KOSA uses two methods to “protect” kids, and both of them are awful.

First, KOSA would allow the government to pressure social media platforms to erase content that could be deemed “inappropriate” for minors. The problem is: there is no consensus on what is inappropriate for minors. All across the country we are seeing how lawmakers are attacking young people’s access to gender affirming healthcare, sex education, birth control, and abortion. Online communities and resources that queer and trans youth depend on as lifelines should not be subject to the whims of the most rightwing extremist powers and we shouldn’t give them another tool to harm marginalized communities.

Second, KOSA would ramp up the online surveillance of all internet users by expanding the use of age verification and parental monitoring tools. Not only are these tools needlessly invasive, they’re a massive safety risk for young people who could be trying to escape domestic violence and abuse.

Dozens of LGBTQ+ and civil rights groups agree that KOSA is dangerous and updates to the bill haven’t addressed the core concerns advocates have about its impact on already often censored content and resources. If you believe in a free and open internet, send a message to your lawmakers right now and tell them to reject KOSA!"

Final section: "I’ve heard there’s a new version of KOSA. What’s the deal?
The new version of KOSA makes some good changes: narrowing the ability of rightwing attorneys general to weaponize KOSA to target content they don’t like and limiting the problematic “duty of care.” However, because the bill is still not content neutral, KOSA still invites the harms that civil rights advocates have warned about.

As LGBTQ and reproductive rights groups have said for months, the fundamental problem with KOSA is that its “duty of care” covers content specific aspects of content recommendation systems, and the new changes fail to address that. In fact, personalized recommendation systems are explicitly listed under the definition of a design feature covered by the duty of care in the new version. This means that a future Federal Trade Commission (FTC) could still use KOSA to pressure platforms into automated filtering of important, but controversial topics like LGBTQ issues and abortion, by claiming that algorithmically recommending such content “causes” mental health outcomes that are covered by the duty of care like anxiety and depression. Bans on inclusive books, abortion, and gender affirming healthcare have been passed on exactly that kind of rhetoric in many states recently. And we know that already existing content filtering systems impact content from marginalized creators exponentially more, resulting in discrimination and censorship.

It’s also important to remember that algorithmic recommendation includes, for example, showing a user a post from a friend that they follow, since most platforms do not show all users all posts, but curate them in some way. As long as KOSA’s duty of care isn’t content neutral, platforms will be likely to react the same way that they did to the broad liability imposed by SESTA/FOSTA: by engaging in aggressive filtering and suppression of important, and in some cases lifesaving, content.

We refuse to accept that trans youth and human rights must be collateral damage in the fight to keep kids safe online. We have to keep up the pressure until this legislation is amended to ensure it will protect all kids, rather than endangering some of the most vulnerable."
