at the time i was just a stupid dumb 14 y/o who liked to search random things up, so ig i searched up “high altitude” and the first thing that popped up was ‘altitude sickness’ and so for whatever reason i just kept reading up about it
so not only was i somewhat traumatized by what i had just learned, but also the idea of birdo beating her high score but being so traumatized by what she also randomly learned she refused to disclose anything to the rest of the mushroom kingdom for the next few days has been living rent-free and is also canon in my head (whether anyone else thinks it makes sense or not)
