So in short there is, in fact, a massive difference.

The main distinction between an open relationship and polyamory is that polyamorous relationships are about having emotional commitment to more than one person, whereas an open couples are just meant for having sex with other people.

Polyamory is fully ethical. It's love that doesn't harm anyone - unless someone is being dishonest about their true feelings surrounding it. And that isn't polyamory as a concept's fault, it's the person that sucks at communication's fault.

Polygamy is just selfishness and suffering. It harms the person devoted to the polygamous person.

And I am not anywhere close to a hedonist.
I'm rather pessimistic about life, actually.
The only things that matter are caring for the people who have less, and giving+getting love (family and friends, then partners).
