Pov: it's the first week of school and you have a crush on Vanessa, the most popular girl at school

The scene is as set: Our main male characters are sitting at their typical lunch table talking about typical Junior boy things.*

*she walks by with the rest of the 'popular girls' and she looks at the table and waves at the boys*

*At the same time, coincidentally, the girls come in and sit at their table*

Samuel: *doesn’t answer but instead looks at Jackie*

Vanessa: Sammy, please tell us what's going on

Samuel: Hell no… I’m number 11… kinda

Vanessa: what do you mean kinda?

Samuel: Screw Jackie and her tan skin! And cute thighs! And… her eyes…

*Jackie, standing behind him is blushing*

*she approaches unnoticed*

Samuel drives around the town and pulls into a gas station

Jackie: Where are we going?

They make out in his truck

Samuel: Yeah… go get some food… gives her a twenty

Jackie: ok, thanks

*as she leaves Samuel sits for a moment. Then he drives off quickly*

Vanessa: that was amazing!

Vanessa: of course!

Stanley: *tuning the guitar* Uhm… keep in mind this is brand new and I need to edit it likely… It’s called “I Alone.” I started writing it before all this mess… but I think it’s still evident in the lyrics… ready?

On the nightstand next to his bed their is an old copy of a Holy Bible next to a picture frame of Vanessa and Stanley together* Yeah… I just write whenever I get like this… can I sing you the song I just wrote? *he picks up his guitar and tunes it*

*Jackie hides on the other side of the hallway*

Jackson: The hell dude?
Samuel: What?

Vanessa: Y-yeah, sure

Vanessa: you two need to stop! Jackson what is your problem!?

Jackson: She’s a *****!
Samuel: Nuh uh!

Vanessa: why are you so upset if Sammy wants to get back with her?

Samuel: That’s f***ing it! *Turns all his rage towards Vanessa* I am sick and f***ing tired of you! It seems that everything has gone down hill since you started boning Stanley!
Stanley: Hey! Watch your-
Samuel: Shut up and let me finish!
*Stanley is stunned*
Samuel: *Turns back to Vanessa* If you weren’t around, Stanley wouldn’t have been so… so obsessed with you! Then he wouldn’t have pretty much abandoned us for you! T-then if it wasn’t for you I would’ve been able to move on from… from her! *gestures to Jackie. It is now at this point tears are flowing from Samuel’s eyes* And another thing! Sammy? F***ing Sammy?! Why do I, the one with no interest in you, get the f***ing pet name? You don’t call Jackson Jacksie. You sure as hell don’t call Stanley Stanny. So why me? Every time you call me that name I feel just as bad as if I had f***ing had sex with you! It feels like a betrayal to my best friend!

*Turns to leave* Screw all of this…

*Walks past everyone, since they are too stunned to react. He stops in front of Jackie*

*Two thuds are heard from the table from the popular table*

Vanessa: oh hi Stanley!

Stanley: Hey… Vanessa. *He pauses as if to remember his lines in a practice for a play*
Listen, me and a couple of guys have uh a band and we’re playing our first gig tonight at the bowling alley… in case you wanted to you know come. I wrote a couple of original songs for it so ya know…

Vanessa: I would love to!
*You decide to wrap things up as you see her friends coming*

Stanley: Yeah, cool see ya… *Disappearing act*

*as you hear her friends question her, you hear her say that you were just asking for classwork help as if to help you out*

Stanley: *smirks slightly as Samuel and Jackson walk up on him*

Samuel: So… we’re meeting at my house, taking my pickup, thus I am not paying for my food or gas… I’ll let you negotiate amongst yourselves.
Jackson: Fine I got gas, Stanley you got food. Stanley?

*Stanley is lost in transfixion with Vanessa*

Samuel: Let’s go Romeo, we gotta go get set up since the bowling alley won’t do it for us!

*Time cut to time of show*

*as they get on stage, they see Vanessa one of the only ones there, with everyone else they invited*

Jackson: *slaps Stanley on the back with one of his drumsticks* Damn, Romeo! You actually did it!

*Stanley shoved him back as he gets to his mark. There he picks up his bass guitar. Jackson walks back towards the drums and sits on the stool. Samuel walks to his mark left of Stanley and picks up his guitar, decked with the American flag pattern on it.*

*Vanessa sits waiting for the show to start*

*The manager comes onto the stage with his bowling polo on. He picks up the microphone*

Manger: Ladies and Gentlemen, here at Generic Alleys, we like to support our local community. So tonight we have a local band making their first ever appearance. *pauses and turns to Stanley*

(Hushed) Who’d you guys say you were?

Stanley: *light mutter*

Manger: No I mean your band name!

Stanley: *light mutter*

Manger: Seriously? *Back to the mic* Introducing, Three Guys! *mutter* How original…

Vanessa: *starts to clap for them*

Stanley: *low to the guys* one, two three four…

*They begin to play Rain King, done in this universe by Counting Crows, but in this timeline the song did not exist until now*

Stanley: When I think of heaven… deliver me in a black winged bird…

Vanessa: *watches very interested as she doesn't really know the song*

*Stanleys voice is incredible. It seems with every line you sense the emotion that went on as he wrote the lyrics. The other guys play their instruments beautifully and add a lot with their own voices when they join Stanley on the chorus*

*During the conclusion after the music stops, Stanley delivers one of the most heart breaking parts of the song, as you can hear every bit of anguish and pain and loneliness that went into his process.*

Stanley: Cause I am the Rain King… YEAHHHH!

*Everyone claps and a few wipe tears from their eyes*

Vanessa: *starts clapping and blushes*

Stanley: *looks into the crowd, face full of sweat from performing, his face holds a smile bright*

*The band finishes up their show*

*when they leave, they hear Vanessa yell for them to wait up*

*The guys stop and turn around. Samuel and Jackson shoot each other a grin and Stanley, who was wiping sweat off of his glasses, puts them back on and smiles*

Stanley: Es bueno, no?

Vanessa: ¡Fue increíble! Los tres

Samuel: No hablo Taco Bell, senorita!
*pause* Damn, now I want Taco Bell!

Jackson: We’ll let’s go then.

Stanley: D-do you wanna come, Vanessa?

Stanley: Okay. *smiles warmly*

*as the guys order, the total comes out to $157.39

*at the popular table*

Vanessa: did you guys see that blonde kid with the blue eyes? He's cute
Jenny (white with blonde hair and hazel eyes): no he's not you're just delusional

*Back at the boys table, Samuel and Jackson are rubbing the back of their heads*

Jackson: If we weren’t friends, I could’ve ended your entire career by playing the race card, just so you know.

*The bell rings and the boys split as Samuel and Jackson head to history and Stanley heads to AP Physics*

*surprisingly Stanley sees her at AP physics by herself considering none of her friends are that smart*

Vanessa: wow, I'm honored

*The teacher, Mr. Gene Eric, walks in*
Mr. Eric: Okay, today you will be given a partner assignment. Together you must create a presentation detailing the physics behind a natural everyday occurrence… I’ve taken the liberty of assigning partners…

Vanessa: that would be great!

* the other guys say bye to Stanley and they begin to walk*
Stanley: Hey, remember that song I sang? The one that went, “Never thought, I’d die alone. I laughed the loudest, who’d have known?”

Vanessa: *starts to blush* Stan.. what was that?

Stanley: Guess I’m just a silly guy…

Vanessa: yeah, why?

Stanley: *looks at her and winks*

*it is night and Jackie is about to sleep in the couch and Stanley brings her blankets and a pilloow*

*She hands the guys their food and they see she has about three bags for herself*

Stanley: *sighs and slams his head into the steering wheel* Jackie… you gotta give him some slack…
