Why does she lack a neck?

1. I can never seem to draw necks right.

I think it also stops her head from floating so her head would fall off. She would be able to live for a bit longer due to excess oxygen storage. Then she'd need to find her head, grab it and bring it closer to the stump which would have been her neck that got disconnected from her head
