Communism is more of an ethos than a practical political force. Communism tried to create a 'new man' in order to best fit it's nonsensical doctrine.
Communism is full of contradictory things like being anarchist but also requiring neigh-unlimited state power to regulate whatever nation communism reigns in hence why every communist/Marxist nation thus far has been authoritarian. It has to enforce it's ideals through force which is ironic.
I can talk for hours about the communist ideals of 'from each according to his ability to each according to his need' and why that's physically and economically impossible but I'll be here all night explaining it.
