Decay /// Chapter 8 - Predator

Hello!

You can tell just by the fact I used an exclamation mark that i’m happy. Because I am happy. I’m escaping. I’ve read every single manual I could get my hands on, and I am confident that I have around 30% of an idea how to travel between universes using one spaceship. Besides, it can only travel around 68952265340 meters a second. That’s barely anything, but it should only take around a year to get to like, the Stickverse or something. Anyways… I have packed so many things, that I think I would be the richest person ever in existence if I sold all this. I’ve got around 19 backpacks worth of things, including, but not limited to, all the non-perishable food in a 18 mile radius, lots of water, this notebook, 12 other notebook, considering the rate at which I wrote things, my gun, and a toothbrush. Anyways, i’m gonna go start the ship up, wish me luck.

Okay, good news and bad news.

Good news is that i’m in space. Bad news is that i’m not alone.

Yeah. There’s a zombie on the ship. Poor fella probably had the same idea as me, but got bitten at the last second and couldn’t treat it. I heard them coughing up blood in the other room. So i’ve barricaded myself in the cockpit, which does mean i’m basically trapped here for around a year, but I can’t run the risk of arriving at the next universe and infecting everybody. I gotta kill it. So, uhh… wish me luck.

…Oh, God, it has a sword.

It doesn’t look half-bad for a zombie though. Looks like they’ve only been infected a few days ago. It’s a woman, brown, curly hair, and a scar on her left cheek that i’m not sure was from before or after she was infected. If it was from before, that would be cool. 8v6vvs.jpg (click to show)

So, uhh… i’m back in the cockpit. I gotta take a better approach than just “find it and shoot it”, knowing how advanced the zombies can get. I wouldn’t be surprised if it hacked the ship to run straight into a star or something.

My plan is to lead it into the airlock and drop it into the void. Sounds like a good plan, right? I’m gonna try and go with it.

More good news and bad news.

Zombie’s gone. But I sorta lost my eye. It swung at me before I could lock it in the airlock. Hurts like hell. But at least it’s gone. I can’t bear to look at wherever my eye may be. All bloody and messed up and tiny chunks of skin next to it on the dirty floor. Yuck.

So, I guess that’s it. I’m free. As long as there’s no extra zombies hiding on this ship. I’m gonna not write any longer, not until I arrive. I want this story to end with perfect closure. I’ll be able to live normally again. No more looking over my shoulder. No more being alone. No more remembering what could have been. I’m finally gonna live a normal life.
