I think you're talking about the French Government, which did only last 6 weeks into WW2, I'm talking about the French Resistance, the force entirely made up of French civilians that sabotaged tanks, railroad lines and killed generals to make the Nazis have as hard a time to keep the war effort going as possible. These efforts were at their most valuable at D-Day, stopping Nazi renforcements from reaching the beaches. Without these efforts, there was no chace of the Allies winning D-Day, or WW2.
