The Cascadian Navy Primary Aircraft Carrier “Dust Mother”
8:40 Military Time.
Year: June 2nd, A.C. 435

“The Contract Details are simple. Find and Destroy a Cordium mining facility located near the coast of eastern Russia, now under Pacific Federation control. The Cordium is active, and if ignited, the entire area would explode in a lava covered blast. Infantry would deploy boots on the ground and try to extract with all the Cordium they could fill their gear with. You on the other hand, will maintain Aerial Superiority until we are all clear. When Galaxy Gives us the go ahead, We will return to the carrier. Understood, Hitman?” Said Kaiser. The Four Members of the Sicario Mercenary Group’s Hitman Team said in unison “Understood”. “Best of luck to you all.” Kaiser said as he finished up his briefing. Monarch looked across the Briefing room to find his WSO Prez. The two exchanged glances, and smiled at each other. Ever since the Prospero disaster months ago, the two had been flying together in their F/D-14 “Super Tomcat”.

“Hey Monarch…” Prez said with a smug look on her face as she walked to their plane together. “Let’s try to not get the boss mad at us like last time.” She said. Monarch Chuckled. “You’re not wrong, It was a dumb thing of me to do what I did back in Oceania.” He replied. “I have to say, Galaxy was right about your piloting skills.” Monarch said. Prez smiled. The two were close, and they started dating after the Presidia disaster. For them it was just another day. As Monarch got in his jet, he said to Prez; “Best of luck out there.” She Replied “Yeah, you too.” The Plane’s Engine Roared to life as they taxied to the catapult. Then, The large F/D-14 Fired up its engines, pitched up, and they were off.

As the Two flew towards the Quarry, Prez said over the radio <<Monarch, Remember the plan and follow orders.>> Monarch gave her a thumbs up and smiled under his oxygen mask. Monarch had a habit of not talking in the midst of aerial combat. This helped him concentrate more due to his Hyperactive ADHD diagnosed brain. As missiles whizzed past their head and guns went ablaze above them, Monarch somehow saw the beauty of it all. He was always asked by his friends why Monarch became a Mercenary Pilot. Monarch often said that it just felt right for him.

In reality, he became a pilot because he grew up loving aviation from a young age, and never let go of the passion.

After fragging a massive 6 air to air kills, the mission was done. Monarch slumped back in his seat and sighed. He did get exhausted sometimes flying in summer weather. That’s why Monarch preferred the winter. Prez glanced over Monarch’s shoulder and smiled. She did love him, and let him live a normal life. It was just trippy, dating the world’s best pilot and being his WSO at the same time. Nevertheless, she asked Monarch <<Monarch, do you sometimes regret things that you do?>> over the radio. <<Yes, I do.>> <<Killing Crimson was one of the biggest regrets I have.>> Monarch replied. <<It’s hard to kill a sibling you cared about and worked with.>> <<That will always be my biggest regre- >> Two flashing lights appeared on Monarch’s IFF. On his radar, they were classified as experimentals. <<They’re on our nose.>> Monarch said in shock at the mission being “Complete.” <<Um… Galaxy, are you seeing this.>> Monarch said. <<Yeah, I see em, marking them on the rest of the Team’s IFFs.>> Galaxy replied.

A gruff, young adult voice said on the radio <<So, you're the guy everyone’s talking about.>> The voice said. <<The supposed “Crimson 1 Killer” or “The King of the Skies”.>> The Voice said. <<I’ve heard endless stories about you Monarch.>> <<I, K-9A: Callsign Driver, have come to kill you.>> Monarch replied <<I’ve faced countless Aces like you “Driver”.>> <<It’s been Three long years since I’ve faced a worthy opponent like you.>> <<Our battle will be legendary.>> Monarch said. Driver’s ACG-01 Chimera barely collided with Monarch’s F/D-14. Into the merge they went. As the two aces flew in a DNA like pattern, bleeding the two’s energy, they utilized their intense piloting styles against each other. Driver’s flying style was aggressive and nose first, while Monarch flew with strategy, and spared his Air to Air Missiles for when he most needed them. He had only 300 rounds remaining on his M61A1 Vulcan Cannon, and his two Aim-9Z “Sidewinders” had barely been touched. He Fired one, but a simple 180 degree turn made the Missile lose track. Prez yelled on comms <<Who the Hell is this guy?>>. Driver responded saying <<You know I had a WSO like you once, but ever since my battle with General Faust, I’m mourning the loss of her life in that battle.>> Monarch realized that he was talking all along, but his focus was not interrupted.

One of Monarch’s squadmates, Diplomat, started to interfere over the radio.

<<OH MY GOD JUST SHUT UP!!>> Diplomat yelled. <<YOU’RE EVEN WORSE TO FIGHT THAN CRIMSON HIMSELF!!>> Driver felt irritated by the pilot.>> So, he went guns on him. Diplomat’s plane fell apart, and spiraled out of control. <<Diplomat!!>> Monarch screamed. The two had been best friends since high school. To lose his best friend, thrown Monarch into a fit of rage. <<Ah, there, you go, just like in your battle with Crimson.>> Driver continued to monologue. <<The only push you can get to defeat me is by losing a friend, or someone you love.>> Driver said, with a smirk on his face and pointing to Prez. <<Don’t you F**king dare to insult Robin like that.>> Monarch said, maintaining his cool without screaming. Monarch yelled to Prez, <<I’m going to try to get on his six.>> <<Don’t Pass out on me, ok?>> Prez nodded, and he did a risky 180 degree turn. Prez barely maintained consciousness during the maneuver, and locked Driver’s Chimera on radar. <<Kill Him, He’s Out in front!!>> Prez screamed over the radio <<Sorry Driver, No More Second Chances, Buddy.>> Monarch Said. <<Checkmate.>> The missile whizzed through the air, and hit the plane in the cockpit.

In the moments after Driver died, there was silence, but not for him. Back on deck, Diplomat’s dying body lay still. Monarch grabbed his arm, and tried to stop the bleeding from the 20mm rounds that struck his left arm, torso, and right leg. “I.. In the e.. end, I.. I was kin.. da right.” Diplomat said. At that moment, Peter “Diplomat” Kennedy said his last words. “At l.. ast, I c.. can finn.. nally join Eve, I g.. guess…” As Diplomat’s vision faded to black, He thought that even if there’s nothing on the other side, I’ll still accept what's to come. Monarch, was crying, in despair at the sight of his dead body. Prez held Monarch’s hand, trying to tell him that it was going to be okay. Monarch slightly smiled when Prez also gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. He knew that he had won, but it also came at a cost. Monarch said his final goodbye “See you in the skies, brother.” He turned, and walked away.

(If you don't know who Eve is, she was one of Monarch's Wingman during the Cascadian Independence War Contract. She Died in the Presidian Disaster and was not only Diplomat's squadmate, but also his Girlfriend.) (In The Canon version of Project Wingman, Eve survived the Presidian disaster, but in this universe, Eve dies during the Event)
