The figures emerge from the fog. One of them is a boy with blonde, curly, styled hair, and a fancy blazer. The other is a dark-purple haired girl in a purple sweater and jeans. The boy had a face with a wide grin, the girl having a disappointed frown on hers. “Allow us to introduce ourselves, Alain,” the boy says, his mouth frozen in the same wide grin the entire time he speaks. “I’m Fate.”
“And I’m Destiny,” the girl adds. “At least, those are the names we remember.”
The boy tilts his head. “And you, boy, are our Fallen Star.”
Alain frowns. “The f**k does that mean?”
Destiny shakes her head. “I told you he wouldn’t understand your cryptic bullshit. He’s a f**king teenager! He’s not gonna try to understand metaphorical shit like that!”
A visible red symbol appears on Fate’s mask-like face. “I was trying to be cool, Destiny! Stop making me look stupid!”
“You did that yourself just fine, dipshit.” Destiny retorts. “Alain, I’ll be straight with you. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we need your help. Things went smoothly at first, but recently we’ve run into.. a bit of a roadblock..”
Fate chimes in. “Somebody has taken over the Nexus and has been ruling the lands with an iron fist. They’ve taken down powerful leaders of smaller regions of the Nexus, and burned down hundreds of small communities, replacing them with military bases..”
Alain raises an eyebrow. “And you want me to help how..?”
Fate tilts his head. “By becoming our loyal servant and helping take down the tyrant once and for all! We’ll grant you special powers to make sure you don’t die out there,” he joyfully explains. ”And best of all, you’ll be able to continue living to keep those little friends of yours alive! It’s a win-win!”
Alain thinks. For a brief moment, he just stops worrying and thinks about this life changing decision, weighing the pros and cons. He could help his friends and be there for everyone. But he could just die and not have to suffer anymore. He wouldn’t be anyone’s burden, and he wouldn’t have to deal with pain and, ugh, people. But then he’d be abandoning his friends.. those closest to him.. Alain struggles for a minute, but then he comes to his decision. “I’ll do it.. I guess..”
