The "Autumn would succumb to the fog" fits well with a story I have been planning that involves an entity named Haze.
(Haze is an entity that took over an entire alternate universe {He is stuck there though but if he ever escapes he could take over the entire multiverse in a few years or less}. Haze is made out of a special fog that gives him special properties, the main thing he uses the fog for is to control the people in the alternate universe he is stuck in {The people he control in the alternate universe are sent to other universes where they try to bring Haze into the reality they are in, this is how the Empire of Darkness started}. Haze has spent centuries trying to escape so he totally won't be able to escape in a few weeks or years.)
