It was unclear why until news was reported, Dagon survived. He fought Kanirah due to being in Dagon's territory. Kanirah retreated to the ocean, deeming the territory to Dagon. 32 years later, after the future king of the monsters, Godzilla was born. MUTO Prime tried to kill Godzilla, attempting to infect him to lay eggs inside of him. Luckily, Dagon saved his son and fought MUTO Prime. Their battle was interrupted by testing of the Oxygen Destroyer. Dagon managed to survive the super weapon. MUTO Prime, on the other hand. She did survive, but was knocked unconscious. 6 years later, Dagon was changed after Odo Island was destroyed. It hints that Dagon will explode, destroying the whole world. When Dagon was about to reunite with Godzilla, Destoroyah swooped in and knocked down Dagon, snatched Godzilla, and dropped him into the ground, killing him. An enraged Dagon fights Destoroyah, with the help of humans, they managed to defeat Destoroyah. After the battle, Dagon started to melt, meaning he was dying. After his death, his life essence as a final gift to his son, reviving the next generation. Taking his father's place as the new King of the Monsters, Godzilla.
