The backrooms suck now
It used to be about eerieness and liminality, but now it's just a big monster encyclopedia. Like all the stuff that made it good, yknow, the PLACE BEING EMPTY bit is completely gone
level 3999 (the supposed true end of the backrooms) got a rewrite a while after the backrooms Fandom stopped allowing levels above 1000 (until all the empty gaps (aka levels that dont exist yet) are filled) and became level 399
so somebody made a level -399 and the whole fuсking point of it is just to make level 399 use the "haha fuсk you this isn't an exist this wasn't an exit"
tl;dr: backrooms level ruined because Fandom users don't want levels to have exits

Reminds me of the Null fight in Baldi, the "No exiting" part I mean
don't you love it when a backrooms level on the Fandom has an exit back to earth but then a user makes a variation of the level that employs the generic "haha screw you this exit is a phoney" tactic; (talking about the Fandoms version of Level 399)
