Multiplication is you having more of an amount of something, the (2) represents that there is TWO, the (×) represents doing the operation, and the other (2) represents how much of the thing you have is being exemplifed, so you have 2 amounts of 2, and 2 + 2 is 4, not 8.

no????? the × symbol separates the equation, so you only multiply and apply the effect of the symbol to the thing directly on the right. why are you thinking that it multiplies the entire equation

no. if 3x3 is 9, it is 3+3+3. (3+3 would equal 6). 2x2 (two twice) is 2+2, therefore, it's 4.
