Everybody begins somewhere when it comes to learning mathematics. The average child learns language 4 years before mathematics. The average child learns language at age 2, and learns math at age 6. The average ages for a preschooler are 4 and 5 years old. If a child is 4-5 years old while they are in preschool, then that child would be done with preschool about 1 year before they learn mathematics. So why complain if kids aren't able to learn mathematics yet?

Third, the idea is still valid within reason bro
And fourth, the definition of "math" usually applies to slightly more complex things then 2+2 within that context
