They Don't Know That; Everyone still uses SQL at some point so no one really gives it crap. C and to some extent C++ folks like to talk about how performant their stuff is and python (and any interpretive language) is inferior. python people like to talk about how easy it is to use and how quickly you can get stuff up and running. The community and packages available in python make what I do easy in python. If I were smarter and building things for personal trading use I'd do stuff in C++. I remember doing weird stuff with pointers back in college but I can't really even give a definition of a pointer anymore.
