Isn’t it hypocritical to criticise the IDF for “killing children” yet you support Hamas, a group that hides behind children and openly killed children on October 7th?

Why do you think so? I personally don’t see how the JVP is better than Hamas in fighting for Palestinian liberation, given that they’re the main force fighting against Zionist occupation. Not to mention that it is the force that runs the civil administration of Gaza, which tries to provide for Palestinian civilians (albeit they can’t do much given that “Israel” has imposed a harsh blockade on the region).

Is it because you believe that Hamas’s methods are too “dirty” for your liking compared to the JVP? If so, then consider the following:

Put yourself in the shoes of an 18 year old Palestinian before October. Your father, your aunt, many of your cousins, etc. have died in attacks. Your home is crowded because your distant family's home was destroyed and they’re seeking refuge in yours. You'll never know the day the IDF will drop a bomb on your house, and believe me when I say it’s a question of “when” and not “if,” considering the IDF has already destroyed 70% of Palestinian homes (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/31/israeli-bombardment-destroyed-over-70-of-gaza-homes-media-office). Would you want to resist “Israel”? Absolutely.

How do you do that? Good little liberals in the west might say "go out and vote!" But even human rights groups in Israel say that Israel is an apartheid state (https://www.hrw.org/report/2021/04/27/threshold-crossed/israeli-authorities-and-crimes-apartheid-and-persecution). Their collective voices alone will never be enough. Maybe you say "look at gandhi. Do passive resistance" but passive resistance only worked in india because the British empire could no longer financially contain them in the post WW2 reality and this isnt a problem Israel has (especially not with all the funding “Israel” gets from its sugar daddy U.S.A). However, Palestinians actually did have a peaceful march called the 2018–2019 Gaza border protests. And you know what happened? They got shot down. Nonviolent resistance will not work.

Hell, even the U.N. knows this fact, and they’re the ones who handed off Palestine to the settler-colonial project in the first place. To quote them, “The U.N. insists these are legitimate political movements and therefore can freely work with them”. Of course, msm is pissed off at them for refusing to condemn a perfectly legitimate and morally upright political movement with the aim of resisting the subjugation of the Palestinian people.

Perhaps you’re thinking right now “well hey, that doesn’t justify their behavior by taking hostages, they’re innocent civilians to you know!” Perhaps that’s why you’re so quick to condemn Hamas. To which I say: That’s the only thing they can do. It has been shown time and time again that Palestinians’ pleas aren’t a good bargaining chip against “Israel” for not genociding them, but hostages are. If you don’t believe me, take for example the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange, in which Hamas released an “Israeli” soldier in exchange for thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians along with a Ukrainian, a Jordanian, and a Syrian. You may condemn these actions, and to which I say: Put yourself in Hamas’s shoes and come back to me when you have a better solution.

So if you're in Palestine, it seems to me your options are to either take your genocide lying down or you can support the group that has been by your side through think and thin, who is willing to put their lives on the line and will fight for you when the going gets tough, who has fed you when you were hungry, and that id the only hope you have of not being killed in an “Israeli” air strike. I’m not saying at all that Hamas is perfect, but if I were a Palestinian civilian, I would personally choose the latter over the former. And might I be daring enough to add, I wouldn’t care whether a virtue signaling Westerner approves of said group or condemns it, especially given that the other options have worked oh so well.
