0 ups, 1y,
1 reply
The first Tsar of Russia, Ivan IV, was crowned Tsar by Metropolitan Macarius at age 16. During Smuta where there was no clear successor to the throne, Mikhail Romanov was elected and crowned Tsar of Russia, and his dynasty ruled until the collapse of the Russian Empire and abdication of Nicholas II.

not the way i was thinking about, i was reffering to the russians using the byzantine way of crowning themselves
0 ups, 1y
You just have to be a little more specific. Russia has a very long history and very many events, so it's easy to confuse ones with others in similarity.
0 ups, 1y
when did russia and france make the duel entente
0 ups, 1y
Rus' was founded by the Varangians, or basically Vikings from present-day Sweden. Rurik was their first leader, and Kievan Rus' continued existing until its fracture and invasion by the Mongols. A few of the Rus' provinces in the West managed to escape the invasion though, and were deemed as the 'last stronghold of Kievan Rus''

First, Rus' Land (Kievan Rus') was founded by the Varangians (Vikings), and their first monarch was Rurik. However, the Mongols invaded after some time and took over Rus'. After the collapse of the Mongols, Moscovy was established, with Ivan the Terrible as its monarch. After one of Ivan's descendants, Feodor, died without an heir, Russia experienced a time known as Smuta, or Time of Troubles. Eventually, the succession crisis was resolved when Michael Romanov was elected as Russia's new leader. It was around this time when Moscovy became the Tsardom of Russia. When Peter the Great came to the throne though, he changed it into the Russian Empire. It was this way until 1917, when the Russian Revolution took place, and Nicholas ll was forced to abdicate.

0 ups, 1y,

That was during the succession crisis, Smuta, when there was internal fighting and several false 'heirs' to the throne.
0 ups, 1y,
1 reply
no, that happened after the death of Peter the great.
0 ups, 1y,
1 reply
After Peter the Great, there were several female leaders who were not the true heirs claiming to be the true leaders. But the problem was dealt with and the throne was restored to the Romanov Dynasty.
