Playing at 60fps on my Steam Deck, it’s the smoothest Dead Space has ever looked. My Xbox One playing the original DS at 30, and my Steam Deck barely playing the 2023 remake at 30 both felt fine but also choppy. 60 frames is way better.

Gameplay wise, it’s definitely an improvement over the OG in almost every way. Zero gravity movement, weapon varieties, hacking panels, pinning enemies, and interesting combat scenarios like hanging upside-down or waiting for an enemy to show itself.

I’m 2 hours in and I’m already at Chapter 5. I didn’t even notice which chapter I was in until I stopped playing. I’m already a third of the way through on hard difficulty. I’ve played the OG at least 6 times so I guess that makes sense.

My only problem with this game so far is it feels like it’s trying WAY TOO HARD to be shocking. Why are you making me fight zombified toddlers next to a child’s playground???????? That just completely takes away from the game’s tone because I can tell you’re trying to shock me and it’s not working.

1. The human eye doesn’t see in frames.
2. When people bring up 15-24fps, they’re talking about movies and TV shows, which are passive experiences and don’t require tactical input. For video games, every single millisecond of responsiveness counts. That’s where the smoothness comes from: the input, not your eyeballs.

If you don’t know what you’re talking about, just don’t comment.

To be fair, it does depend on the type of game. A game like RuneScape is a very passive point-and-click game where you click a spot on the map and your character runs to it. Battles are automatic. It doesn’t really need 60fps.

But games like Battlefield or SpiderHeck, which need constant interaction and timed inputs, will be considerably harder and will appear more like a slideshow at 15-30 fps.

Who told you that people can’t see past 15fps anyway? Nintendo switch fanboys?

If you have Minecraft, I encourage you to go to the settings and change the framerate limit to 10, see what it’s like, switch to 20, see it, and then go back to 60.
