Sketch was once just a formless blob in a pocket dimension until humans dragged him out, so sketch partly copied them to look somewhat human (hence the cartoonish appearance) and as the lab almos blew up he quickly returned
Fuze was a human at first that got her curiosity into reopening the portal that blew up, and once she entered the entrance closed and due to her staying so long in there she somewhat turned into a mummy bomb

So they're like mirrors to eachother?

One was blob who became human
Other was human who became blob?

Ehhh the pocket dimension where they are in sort of work like the deltarune dark world
Anyone who stays long enough gets formed into based of what they prefer or like
Sketch was there already so nothing happend but Fuze liked geology and had a short-fuse personality so thats the design she got
