I just use respawn anchors
Takes more effort, but starts a fire and if I remember correctly from my testing, has a larger explosion radius.

Don’t tell my little brother

As long as he doesn't figure out how to actually explode a respawn anchor, you should be fine. Just don't let him get anywhere near the glowstone dust.
