Plus, they're both villains and use their inventions for evil purposes.

And Chester might be an aged Vector.

But like what's the story, like how did he go from a goofy thief to a granola bar maker?

And why the name change

Maybe after Vector's evil plans failed, he decided to chase a new career. To avoid being identified by his villain name, he changed from Vector to Chester.

But Chester v has no piranha gun

He uses other inventions, like holograms, his vest, etc.
