StarHunt Chapter 9: Remembering.

Traveling through a portal gets less scary the more you travel through and more fun. It’s even more fun when you get to travel with your friends. I started to think about what it was like at home before all of this mess happened. With my mom, my little brother, my dad, and… my sister. After my dad had passed away, my twin sister Malice went missing, and it was my fault. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Me and Malice were hanging out with Scout that day, while also babysitting Marshal. We were heading into one of our favorite malls: The Mall. I’m not even joking, it’s literally called The Mall. So anyways, as we entered The Mall, something caught Malice’s eye: a plushie of Chill, Heat and Huge Guy from Stainfilm 3. The game was really big at the time, and the 4th game had yet to be announced. They even had a plushie of Oyster!

Young Malice: “I wanna get that!”

Young Mayu: “But what if you don’t have enough money?”

Young Malice: “Are you forgetting that I have 150 bucks? I have enough! And plus, these plushies are only 15 dollars each!”

Young Mayu: “I guess you’re right, you do have enough. But please, I wanna get a plushie of Chill! You know she’s my favorite!”

Young Malice: “I’ll get it for you!”

Young Mayu: “Thank you, sis!”

I hugged Malice as she went to go buy the 4 plushies. Scout was admiring some new technology in the area across from us. When Malice came back, she handed me the Chill plushie I wanted, gave Scout a plushie of Heat, gave Marshal the Huge Guy plushie, and then all 4 of us went off. We stopped at the food court, where we got some pizza, and the best drink ever: Boba. It’s even better with whipped cream on it! After we had finished eating, we decided to explore some parts of the mall we had never been to before. There was a Make-A-Grizz store, and we decided to go inside of it. It was my first time there, but Malice and Scout had been plenty of times before. When I looked around, my mind was absolutely blown away. There were so many plushies in this place!

Young Scout: “Hey, Mayu! Look over here!”

I looked in the direction that Scout was pointing, and there I saw it. It was a… machine?

Young Mayu: “Look, I get that you’re interested in machines and all Scout, but-”

Young Scout: “This one’s different! I actually built this one! Basically, when you step inside of the machine it’ll scan you, and then make a plushie that looks identical to you!”

Young Mayu: “Oh cool!”

Young Scout: “The only problem is that it takes an hour for the plushie to be made, so you don’t get the plushie instantly.”

Young Mayu: “Oki!”

After a few scanning sessions between me, my siblings, and Scout, we all headed out of Make-A-Grizz and into the play area on the first floor of the mall. As we got there, I ended up falling on my knee and hurting it. Nobody else had noticed, so I sat on a bench and tried not to cry. Then, I noticed a StarHunter walk up to me. I had always wanted to be one when I was younger. The StarHunter sat down with me, and started talking.

StarHunter: “Hey kiddo. I noticed that you looked sad. What’s wrong?”

Young Mayu: “I hurt my knee…”

StarHunter: “Oh, it’s bleeding a bit. Don’t worry though, kid. I got this!”

The StarHunter took out a bandage and put it on my knee.

StarHunter: “There ya go kid. Also, I want you to have this.”

She gave me a 50 dollar bill, smiled at me, and then walked off. That interaction had helped me feel better, as I just sat there and looked at my plushie of Chill for a few minutes until my knee felt better. About an hour later when we all decided that it was time to go pick up our other plushies from Make-A-Grizz, something caught my eye. Ninja Stars!

Young Mayu: “You guys can go ahead and get your things, I’m gonna do something else!"

I went into the shop, got about 10 ninja stars, and then went to the cashier to pay for it.

Cashier: “Aren’t you a little young to be buying these?”

Young Mayu: “Yes, yes I am.”

The cashier sighed, then let me pay for the ninja stars. After paying, I walked out to go meet with the rest of the group.

Young Scout: “Here you go, Mayu!”

She handed me the plushie of myself, as I looked at it in awe. We all decided to stay for 45 more minutes until everything closed. When it was time to walk out, I decided to get 1 last boba for the road. We headed outside while all the shop owners went home. And then, when it was just the four of us, a figure jumped out infront of us. It started to attack me, but then Malice got in front of me to save me. The figure casted some sort of blue light on the four of us… but I couldn’t remember anything that happened next. I found myself on the floor a few minutes later, but no sign of Malice. The only things I saw were Scout, Marshal, and Malice’s plushie of herself and Oyster. I had called out for her, but no response. She was gone.

???: Mayu! Mayu!

As soon as I heard my name, I realized that I had missed EVERYTHING that happened because I flashbacked too hard. And i also realized that Scout was calling my name.

Scout: “You good?

Mayu: “Yup, what did I miss?”

Scout: “Nothing much, but we found 2 new members to the team! Meet Agent C and Sandkid!”

Agent C was an inkling with a karate outfit on, and Sandkid was a Phighter.

Agent C: “Greetings, Mayu!”

Sandkid: “Hi!”

Mayu: “Hey there!”

We talked as we went through the portal once again back to the beach we were at. Roswald said she had to go and prank someone for… personal reasons, and everyone else went to go play on the beach. Me and Scout decided to take a bit of a walk away from everyone else in the nearby forest.

Mayu: “Hey, Scout?”

Scout: “Yeah?”

Mayu: “I can’t stop thinking about what happened at the mall 5 years ago.”

Scout: “Oh…”

Mayu: “It just keeps coming back to me, no matter what… but for some reason, I've been having flashbacks and dreams about it a lot more recently…”

Scout: “There’s probably a reason for that… but anyways, lets talk about something better to take your mind off of it! You see, vaporeon-”

Something tackled Scout, but it wasn’t me, or any of our friends. I couldn’t exactly see who or what it was, but I was immediately tackled by another figure. This time, I could see exactly who it was. The figure looked exactly like me, but its eyes were glowing blue and some black glitch thing was covering their face around their right eye. The figure smirks.

???: “Hello, twin sister.”

It was Malice… but she’s changed. She’s changed a lot.

X: I wanna Mayu plush!

Mayu: "I still got it with me!"

X: I mean I still want you to have it

Mayu: "Oki!"

Alright Imma keep this tab open for an hour plus, get sidetracked with youtube, come back, and take two hours to read this, because my itty bitty brain can handle reading 10 paragraphs of words.
