So I have a tumbler that I use for work, as I get all the free sweet tea I can drink. However, this means that the thing gets dirty (as dishes do). Normally, I just wash it, but over time, a smell has settled into the metal. It is not a pleasant one (somewhere between rancid tea and beer). Washing does not get rid of it. So, I thought that I could put a dishwasher pod and some hot water in the thing, let it sit overnight, and the smell would be gone. And I was right. I empty and rinse it out, then take a sip of water. Just straight dish soap. Rinse again, now it's watered down dish soap. Rinse and repeat 5 more times, with little effect. Leave water in the thing and let it sit while I'm at school. Come back home to a dish soap aftertaste. Better than straight dish soap, so I take it to work. A thing of tea and 4 hours later, I feel like I'm going to vomit. I didn't, but lesson learned.
