Great question, a therian is basically a person who displays animalistic behaviours and feels strong connections to nature and certain animals, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they run around barking and growling at people. For some it can be a spiritual thing and you can’t really choose to become one. Therians are aware they’re humans and don’t actually view themselves as animals (I can’t speak for all but that’s usually the case)

It’s like a form of identity, I can’t explain it in what I think would be enough detail, but there’s a YouTuber called TherianTerritory and he’s great at explaining it.
