So I may be stupid, but aren't u born with type one and u get type 2? Again, i may be stupid considering that the only experience I have with the topic comes from my dad who has type 2.

omg don't call yourself stupid! I used to think that too!

nope! type one is mostly genetic, and it's permanent (unless you get a pancreas transplant, which is a verrrry risky idea because it could end up backfiring) it slightly changes over time, but you can never get rid of it.

type 2, on the other hand, mostly isn't genetic, though it can be. it's caused by an insulin resistance, which is where you (I think) have a horrible, extremely sugary diet and your sugar intake is so high that the insulin cells just can't catch up. it can be reversed in the early stages. it's not easy to acquire

I may be wrong? But no, type one diabetes does not turn into type two.

So I was close. I thought u were born with type one and couldn't get in any other way, and type 2 was something u got. Ik u didn't get type 2 from type 1, but I thought u were born with type one and u could get type 2 unrealtedly

ok so I'm a diabetic and I have this thing called an insulin pump that, as said, pumps insulin into me because my body (pancreas) can't make it on its own. the insulin pump is attached to my stomach with an infusion set, that puts the insulin into my body. I don't have the training to put it on myself, so my mom or stepdad does it. it needs to be changed out and refilled every three days. last refill, my stepdad did it. apparently, he didn't do it right (he hardly does) and the insulin tube wasn't aligned properly, so it was hard for the insulin to go into my body, causing my blood sugar to rise
