I had 2 surgeries like that. They break your ribs apart to start and join them back up with wire after. I was lucky they just recut the original scar line for the 2nd surgery.

I have one on my face from when I got 18 stiches on my left cheek after I fell off a wall

I have a scar just above my right eyebrow from falling in the shower at hospital. I passed out from staph infection and got another week to my sentence.
