StarHunt chapter 8: A missed step.

???: “Mayu? Mayu!”

I opened my eyes to see that the voice calling out my name was X. I looked around to see that I was in a place that seemed strangely familiar. And then, I had finally remembered where it was. I was in the void again, and I saw Kara. I got up and tried to walk, but I fell down again. I was still very badly injured by whatever had hurt me in my stomach. I looked at my stomach to see that it had been bandaged up.

Kara: “Well-ll, at least I know you’re alive-ive…”

Mayu: “Kara, what happened?”

Kara: “StarHunters-rs.”

Mayu: “Oh, makes sense. But, where are the others?”

Kara: “Still on the beach. They seem-em really worried about you though, so they all went to go look for some medical he-help, except for a few people. I think one of them-em is your… brother?”

Mayu: “Marshal?”

Kara: “Yes-es, him!”

Mayu: “But like, if I’m here, then he must have seen that portal to the void open up below me, right?”

Kara: “Yeah, but I told him-im and the other 3 people-le about how I was actually going to try and heal-al you… or at least make sure that you didn’t die.”

Mayu: “I was going to d-d…”

Kara: “Yeah.”

Mayu: “Oh my god…”

Kara: “Anyways, the second reason I brought you here was because I… made a mistake when I told you about those people-le.”

Mayu: “What kind of mistake..?”

X: “Yeah, what kind?”

Kara: “I left out a few people… it was supposed to be A Lamb who runs a type of cult with her brother, 3 kids that call themselves “The Gear Gang”, Sea creatures related to royalty, 2 enemies who aren't so different from each other, an elf, a half dragon, rival siblings, a Starhunter, a red haired school girl who seems normal but actually isn’t, a sandboy, and the 3rd letter of the alphabet. There was one more, but it seems as if you already have that person with you.”

I started writing that down so that I could remember because when you have ADHD, you tend to forget stuff a lot. As I finished writing it, I had thought about that last thing she said.

Mayu: “Wait, wdym?”

Kara: “I can’t tell you-ou yet.”

X: “Why not?”

Kara: “It’s something you’ll figure-ure out soon enough.”

Mayu: “Okay then…”

Kara: “One last thing-ing, you’re going to need to go to a different world…”

Mayu: “I know just the person to help then!”

Kara: “Oh, great! C-cya!”

And with that, me and X were sent back to the beach. I saw Marshal crying a bit but when he saw me he immediately went to hug me.

Marshal: “You’re okay!”

Mayu: “Yeah, I’m okay!”

Scout was beside Marshal, and also came up to hug me.

Scout: “Wow, he definitely hurt you pretty badly.”

After we had finished hugging, Me and X talked to Scout privately about what Kara had told us.

Scout: “So… you need a portal? Not a problem, I brought the machine from the first chapter with me. And because we have plot armor, we’ll definitely get to that world first try.”

Mayu: “Hey X, Could you do something real quick?”

X: “Sure.”

Mayu: “I need you to go get 7 people, it doesn’t really matter who.”

X: “Yeah, I can do that.”

X went to go get them while Scout started up the machine. I went to go tell Marshal that I was gonna be gone for a few days.

Marshal: “You’ll be back… right..?”

Mayu: “Of course I will, Marshal!”

We hug one last time as I go back to where Scout was. When I got there, Nyx and Henry were talking to each other, Jinrui was practicing with his katana, Nami was chilling while Baggy was being hyperactive, Hunter was doing some spells, but there wasn’t a 7th person.

Mayu: “Uh, X? Where’s the seventh person?”

X: “They had to go do something real quick.”

??: “IM HERE!”

It was Roswald, running as fast as she could to us.

Roswald: “I had to go tell my dad, aka the Mayor that I was gonna go somewhere with my friends. I’m surprised he was okay with it.”

Scout: “Does he know it might be dangerous..?”

Roswald: “Nah.”

Scout: “...Okay.”

Just then, a portal from Scout’s machine appeared.

Scout: “Alright, you guys ready?”

Mayu: “Ready when you are, Scout!”

We all went into the portal one at a time, Scout being the last one in. The portal was like a roller coaster ride but without the cart, and it was actually kind of fun. The portal spit us out a few seconds later, and we landed in front of… a school?

Baggy: “So, we came all the way from the beach just to go to a school? This was pointless.”

Nami: “Don’t jump to conclusions, Baggy. This… could actually be exciting.”

Baggy: “That’s cuz you’re a nerd!”

Nami: “I do not have time to argue right now, Baggy.”

As we walked more towards the school, we heard someone crying.

Scout: “Hello?”

We continued to walk until we got to the source of the crying. It was a girl around 12.

Scout: “Are you ok..?”

???: “Please just get me out of here…”

Something told me that this was the girl. I mean, she was the only one out here…

Scout: “Why are you crying?”

???: “M-my teacher is…”

Scout: “Im guessing that they’re the equivalent of an abusive teacher with barely any hair and a ruler.”

???: “Yeah, apart from the whole ‘bald head’ thing. My name is W-Wynter, and I was in math class until…”

She started crying again.

Mayu: “Listen, whatever happened in there won’t happen anymore. We’ll gladly take you with us, Wynter!”

She started to calm down after I talked to her.

Wynter: “Oh, sweet!”

Scout starts up the portal again, and we all went into it. I had realized that this felt a bit too easy, but I knew that wherever we were going next… it was going to be dangerous.
