furries and the furry fandom have provided a great deal of help to the world. For starters, every furry convention sponsors at least one charity, usually something animal related such as shelters and rescues, and over the years the conventions have collectively raised a few million dollars for those charities. Some fursuiters do their own charity work, such as going to a children’s hospital to entertain the kids while in costume. And the furry fandom/community overall is incredibly accepting, allowing introverts to open up and express themselves and make friends, and welcoming LGBT+ people to freely and openly express themselves and feel accepted regardless of what rejection they may feel at home outside the fandom. Those who face a lot of hatred and rejection from their community and even their own family for being LGBT+ have been saved from suicide just by finding friends in the furry fandom who accepted and loved them as they are. And the last thing off the top of my head, large furry conventions bring a lot of money to the local economy were they’re held. Anthrocon, one of the largest furry conventions, brings in over $5 million to the local businesses in Pittsburgh every year, in just one weekend. (That stat is from about 8 years ago so the economic impact is likely even more now.)
