It depends on your location and age.
Is there a clinic you can afford (ie a free one if you don’t work)?
You may be able to attend a different clinic, talk about the diagnosis and recommended medication. A Dr or other medical professional can request test results from another Dr.
Or you could talk about the why with your mother- she may have had a bad experience with meds in the past, or know someone who has.
