"Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him." — John 19:1; "So he [Pilate] delivered him over to them to be crucified." — John 19:16
The Creed doesn't replace or otherwise change Biblical truth, it affirms what Scripture teaches. Sure, Pilate had some desire to release Jesus, but he didn't. He delivered him over to soldiers who flogged him and crucified them. Both Scripture and the Creed are clear: Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate. And if you want to discredit the Creed, you're gonna have to do better than that.

Matthew 16:21 NLT — From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and that HE WOULD SUFFER MANY TERRIBLE THINGS at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised from the dead.

No doubt about it. Pilate was Jesus' best friend at the time..

Not convinced?

Matthew 27:24-25 — Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”

And all the people of Israel yelled back, “We will take responsibility for his death—we and our children!”

Hmm, seems like the people of Israel were okay with being responsible for shedding innocent blood, killing Jesus.

And yet week after week, naive churchgoers are indoctrinated to blame the ONLY GUY WHO TRIED TO SET JESUS FREE.

The Creed is Bunk.

Nobody is suggesting that Pilate was the only one, or even the most culpable one. The passages that you quoted do prove that Pilate made some small effort to release Jesus, and that there were other more sinister actors who were the driving force of the Crucifixion, but at the end of the day, the passages I cited still clearly teach that Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate. As I said, you'll have to do better than that to discredit the Creed.

Nobody is suggesting that Pilate was the only one?
How about millions of biblically-inept churchgoers who recite this week after week:
"..His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,..."

No one else is mentioned.

And the effort Pilate made to free Jesus was not just a small effort, for he argued with them for hours and even tried to compare Jesus with Barabbas so they would obviously free Jesus instead:
Luk 23:20-22 NLT - 20 Pilate argued with them, because he wanted to release Jesus. 21 But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!" 22 FOR THE THIRD TIME he demanded, "Why? What crime has he committed? I have found no reason to sentence him to death. So I will have him flogged, and then I will release him."

Pilates argument with the ppl of Israel is akin to a politician yelling at his voters to convince them of his opinion—no easy task, and it doesnt happen like that nowadays. Politicians rally with their own echo-chambers and rarely, if ever, face off against public opposition.

***
And the passages you cited dont disprove anything, since the Apostles know very well what being flogged was, yet they still attribute the suffering of Christ to the ppl of Israel, and so did Christ himself. .

Why would the Jewish leaders want to kill Christ? Well, the bible isnt a big set of books, so theres no reason why everyone doesnt know this already:
Jhn 11:47-48, 53 NKJV - 47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. 48 "If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, AND THE ROMANS WILL COME AND TAKE AWAY OUR PLACE AND NATION" ... 53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death."

Cant be much clearer, and for you to ignore the words of the Apostles' actual biblical words bespeaks of a cultic belief in a manmade mantra, rather than a biblical belief in the inspired Word.

Let's see if the Apostle Paul condemns Pilate for the death of Christ as he writes to the Christians in Thessalonica:
1Th 2:14-16 NLT - 14 And then, dear brothers and sisters, you suffered persecution from your own countrymen. In this way, you imitated THE BELIEVERS in God's churches in Judea who, because of their belief in Christ Jesus, SUFFERED FROM THEIR OWN PEOPLE, the Jews. 15 For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus...

Seems that Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, and Paul and Stephen all agree that it was NOT Pontius Pilate who caused suffering upon Christ or his followers. They seem to have a consensus actually absolving him.

Are there even any apostles left to contrive that Creedal statement you believe in?

Try rereading the texts from John 19 I cited.

I did. They still prove nothing except that you havent been taught how to understand scripture. I dont chiefly blame you, but your goodfornothing preacher will have alot to answer for.

John 19:4-10 NLT — Pilate went outside again and said to the people, “I am going to bring him out to you now, but understand clearly that I find him not guilty.”....
...“Take him yourselves and crucify him,” Pilate said. “I find him not guilty.”

John 19:12 NLT — Then Pilate tried to release him (for the fifth or sixth time) but the Jewish leaders shouted, “If you release this man, you are no ‘friend of Caesar.’ Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar.”

Might as well add political extortion to the charges of murder then.

They prove that Pilate flogged Jesus and delivered him over to be crucified. That's suffering under Potius Pilate.

According to which Apostle? Not any in the bible, thats for sure.

The Apostle's Creed was allegedly written by apostles, so they would have claimed that Jesus suffered under Pilate, right? Yet, not one of them does, even Christ himself:
Mat 16:21 NKJV - 21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Even Pilates wife knew Jesus was innocent:
Mat 27:19 NLT - 19 Just then, as Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: "Leave that innocent man alone. I suffered through a terrible nightmare about him last night."

Literally, every single apostle in the Bible disagrees with your interpretation. The only thing that is logical is that the Creed was written by the Jewish leaders to absolve their guilt, and hide the truth about Christs death. They did the same thing about his resurrection:
Mat 28:11-15 NKJV - 11 Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened. 12 When they had assembled WITH THE ELDERS and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 saying, "Tell them, 'His disciples came at night and stole Him [away] while we slept.' 14 "And if this comes to the governor's ears, WE WILL APPEASE HIM and make you secure." 15 So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day."

Or, perhaps the Creed was written by people like you who dont read their bibles yet think they are apostles.

The Jewish leaders also knew Jesus was innocent, but punished him anyway. Pilate did the same. Jesus suffered under both Pilate and the Jewish leaders, and nobody I've ever heard of uses the creed to absolve the Jews of their guilt.
(For the record, I do read my Bible.)

Very good, but do you also admit that Pilate knew Jesus was innocent, yet tried to release Jesus many times?
And do you admit the Jewish leaders also knew he was innocent BUT tried to kill him many times?

Do you know how God feels about shedding innocent blood?
Pro 6:16-17 NKJV - 16 These six [things] the LORD hates, Yes, seven [are] an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood..

Isa 1:15 NLT - 15 When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

Mat 27:24-25 NLT - 24 Pilate saw that he wasn't getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd(following their jewish custom), saying, "I AM INNOCENT of this man's blood. The responsibility is yours!" 25 And ALL THE PEOPLE yelled back, "We will take responsibility for his death--we and our children!"

And yet the Creed indicts Pilate ALONE as being guilty of Christ's suffering...
Would you admit the Creed, then, is misinforming and misleading—to say the least?

Then you are cultically following men's words, not God's, because no apostle agrees with you.

Yes, I fully acknowledge that Pilate knew Jesus was innocent, yet tried to release him many times. But he didn't release him—He delivered him up to be crucified. Pilate was a weak ruler who would rather do the politically convenient thing and deliver an innocent man to be murdered than do the right thing and protect Jesus from his enemies. Neither Pilate's declaration of his own innocence nor the Jews' assumption of guilt can change the reality that Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate.

As for the Creed itself, while Pontius Pilate is the only listed, there's no indication that he was the only party involved. Why is he the only one listed? I don't know, and if I were the one writing the Creed I would have included others in addition to him, but even if the Creed isn't how I would have written it, it's still not factually incorrect, nor do I consider it to be misleading, much less misinforming.

See if theres more evidence that shows Pilate wasnt the bloodthirsty one..

Luke 23:13-16 NLT — Then Pilate called together the leading priests and other religious leaders, along with the people, and he announced his verdict. “You brought this man to me, accusing him of leading a revolt. I have examined him thoroughly on this point in your presence and I FIND HIM INNOCENT.
Herod came to the same conclusion and sent him back to us. NOTHING this man has done calls for the death penalty. So I will have him flogged, and then I will release him.”

Were they okay with Pilates verdict?
Luke 23:18-20 NLT — Then a mighty roar rose from the crowd, and with one voice they shouted, “Kill him, and release Barabbas to us!” (Barabbas was in prison for taking part in an insurrection in Jerusalem against the government, and for murder.) Pilate argued with them, BECAUSE HE WANTED TO RELEASE JESUS.

Act 7:51-54 - 51 "You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That's what your ancestors did, and so do you!

52 Name one prophet your ancestors didn't persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One--the MESSIAH whom YOU betrayed and MURDERED.

53 You deliberately disobeyed God's law, even though you received it from the hands of angels."

54 The Jewish leaders were infuriated by Stephen's accusation, and they shook their fists at him in rage."

...you know the rest.
