Im convinced Michael McDonald in the late 70's & 80's just wandered the halls of recording studios, nationwide just waiting to be asked to "join" in for backing vocals. The man was on at least a dozen of pop songs in that era. I can picture him hanging out at the vending machines giving his 2 cents to the performers on break.
