In America, I agree with the right to have your own opinion, even if I severely disagree with it.

Sure you have the right to speak ... you're not jailed for it ... but you are always accountable for your opinions. He's being made accountable. The marketplace of ideas that free speech is a part of is designed to weed out bad opinions by just such accountability.
