The hair styles aren't locked just to that gender so there's more dynamic customization because when I actually make the game I'm NOT adding extra hair models

You can also just go straight up bald too. And you can choose your hairstyle again at any time. And if you play 10 online matches of any mode with the no hair / bald hairstyle you get an achievement called "give me my weave back this isn't funny" (yes there's achievements)
