so kali linux comes preinstalled with certain hacking apps and software
one of which is nmap
it basically scans an entire network for things such as open ports, vulnerabilities, etc
and all you need is an ip adress
the command looks something like "nmap -sS (for a stealth scan where you try to do it undetected) [insert ip address here]
you can literally scan and take control of a system starting with ip address alone
