Erm, so basically
John Battings grew up in Vault 9, located in Northern California
This vault's social experiment was to see how people would deal with very bad, damaged equipment, and they were heavily watched by robots, who were to shoot them down if they tried to revolt
They managed to survive until 2240, in which everyone planned a mass riot to try to escape the vault due to infected food, water, faulty power, etc.
They did open the vault, but everyone had died in the process
John, who was around 12 at the time, managed to sneak out, and found himself in the desert wasteland of California
He grew up, and gained a reputation for being quite the outlaw
He would ditch his vault dweller suit for some jeans, a white shirt, a brown leather vest, a brown coat, and a typical brown cowboy hat
Being a vault dweller, he'd have a Pip-Boy on him
He's blind in one eye due to a fight in one of the New Vegas casinos
He also has a nasty scar on his left cheek when he fought a group of raiders when he was young
His weapons consist of a repeater, a magnum, and a double barrel shotgun
