Dante took yet another step through the sand. It had been around ten minutes since he had entered the underworld, and was frankly not sure what to expect. The wind, although strong, was dead silent. The only sounds in the land were Dante’s own footsteps against the burning sand. Dante felt as if he was being watched, as if he wasn’t alone. But the emptiness of the surrounding dunes and deserted towns said otherwise.
Minutes turned into hours. Hours turned into a day.
It was soon nighttime, and Dante needed shelter fast, as the scorching desert became freezing cold at night.
Dante’s slow-paced, cautious trek through the desert soon became a fast-paced race to find shelter.
Eventually, when the sun rose once again, his prayers were answered as he came across a castle sitting in the middle of nowhere. Dante snuck in through the front door, and was surprised to see the castle was filled with food, weapons, and other supplies. Dante didn’t want to steal from whoever lived here, but his hunger got the best of him, and he’d already had blown through most of the rations the rebellion gave him before he raided that Inkperial base.
Suddenly, a chandelier fell to the ground, almost crushing Dante. Dante swiveled on his feet and pulled out the bazooka that was on his back. He saw a shadowy figure run away from a balcony and into a doorway.
Dante, more scared than ever before, gathered his bearings and crept up to the balcony. Inside the doorway, was a long hallway, with pieces of pottery scattered along shelves on the wall. An overly decorative carpet was spread along the hallway.
Dante felt a tap on his back, but there was nothing. Facing his fears, he took out a flashlight and walked along the hallway, expecting the worst.
Suddenly, something scratched at Dante’s back. Dante wished he could scream in pain, though he was unfortunately mute. He turned around, and faced the figure that scratched him head-on.
(Solus)
Solus: hello
Dante looked mad, and was not going to hesitate to shoot Solus. However, Solus disappeared, and soon kicked him in the back. Dante was trapped in this hallway with a living shadow that wanted to kill him.
“you’re alone”
“nobody is coming to save you”
Although Dante didn’t want to believe Solus’s words, he had a point. Dante was afraid.
But then he realized that being afraid was exactly what Solus wanted.
Dante was in Hell. And these demons were feeding off of Dante’s suffering.
Dante took out his knife, and lunged at Solus. The knife penetrated something, and a juicy stabbing noise could be heard. Dante closed his eyes…
