Chapter One: Unexpected Heights
Jay settled into his cramped seat aboard the crowded airplane as it taxied down the runway. He adjusted his headphones, drowning out the noise of chattering passengers and overhead luggage compartments being slammed shut. Glancing out the window, he marveled at the vast expanse of clouds beneath him.
His attention was suddenly drawn to the passenger sitting next to him, a peculiar-looking individual who seemed to embody pure eccentricity.
