Because its pagan, and dont delete my comment for anti-semitism again, please, as anyone who has read their bibles knows that prophets were a sign of Gods love for Israel, and the absence of prophets was a sign of Gods displeasure.
Thats why Jesus' birth is known to have come in the darkest time of Israel's history, when they were living under God's displeasure (again) when there was no prophet in Israel.
Suddenly, a light shining in the darkness. Jesus comes as the greatest prophet, priest and king that Israel ever saw. This is the true meaning of Christmas.
I didnt make this up, and all real Christians should be aware of this and the pagan ingredients that have even crept in our own traditions.
"The Talmud describes an eight day festival around the time of the winter solstice. And so while much is made about the pagan roots of Christmas trees, we should not neglect to notice the pagan roots of Hanukkah. And by pagan, I mean a recognition of and ritual acknowledgement of the natural cycles of the world. Judaism is rooted in earth-based spirituality."
