The Dark Dome surrounded the neighborhood. People were trapped inside. Things could enter the dome, but nothing could exit the dome
A crate of food dropped into the dome from a helicopter, and then another crate of food from a separate helicopter
The government had figured out that the people who live in the neighborhood that was trapped by the dome were still alive, and they dropped in food for them once a month
The crate landed in the middle of the neighborhood
people ran out of a nearby house and attempted to open the crate before it was destroyed
The shadow child had been suspicious when the crates started to drop, suspicious that they may contain weapons
He flew up and exploded both of the crates
The people ran back to the house
One girl, around the same age as The Shadow Child, stopped running and turned back
She was hungry and decided to search for any food that may have survived the explosion
She scratched through the snow, but couldn’t find anything
“What are you doing” the shadow child said behind her
“Im… hungry…” she said standing up
“Then eat.” He said back
She laughed, despite her hunger, despite her fear. She laughed at his stupidity
“I wish it were that easy.” She said between laughter “you destroy our only food supplies”
“Well what if it has weapons one day!” He said angrily “I don’t want to die!”
She stopped laughing as a plan started to form in her brain
“What if you open it for us. Make it seem like you want to help us, but in reality you’re checking it for weapons. Then we think you’re a friend and if we do get weapons we don’t use them against you!” She said excited
The shadow kid thought it over. He liked the plan. It seemed foolproof. Except for one thing
“How do I know you won’t tell everyone else that I’m not actually helping you out of the goodness of my heart.” He said
“Well… I guess you’ll have to trust me” she said
“Hmmm” he said
She stuck out her hand
“What’s your name?” She asked
“I don’t know..” he said back
“Well… you look like a Beacon to me. So I’ll call you Beacon.”
Beacon liked that name. But he wasn’t going to tell her that
“Hiya Beacon! My name is Autumn. Nice to meet ya”
They shook hands and the deal was done
