The reason the Supreme Court agreed to hear Jack Smith's request for expedited review of his charges of disrupting an official preceding is because he appealed the ruling by Trump--appointed Judge Charles Nichols who dismissed it in the case of (3) J6 defendants.
So Jack Smith will end up delaying his own trial because he appealed a ruling that the SC will now take up. Totally destroying his objective of starting this trial right before the GOP primary starts in March.
In other words, Jack Smith screwed himself..
