The Board of Governors has approved. This fall we expand to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Oakland and Los Angeles. When our league was pared down to six clubs during the Second World War, we admirably maintained the status quo as our American and Canadian boys fought for our freedom. Original Six, meet the “New Six on the Block!”; “Hockey Night in Canada,” meet Hockey Night in the USA! And now as football, baseball and basketball succumb to the temptation of further expansion, let’s show support for our American G.I.’s fighting Communist aggression in Vietnam…; …by desisting from expanding our own league until we win this war! A SIMPLE “NO” WOULD HAVE SUFFICED!
