To join the foundation, you must be chosen by the foundation, sworn to secrecy, and given a job.

In some cases the SCP foundation finds “You”. If you were a soldier and your whole platoon ran into (For example) 682 and managed to take it down or contain it. The Foundation would speak with each survivor and ask them to join. Most the time they refuse and that's when the memory eraser is put into place.

So all I have to do is nearly die to an SCP (nearly being the key word there)? Man, I could do that in my sleep.
