*she walks over to them with a lizard on her hand* hi! interested in Sophie?

Ellis: Uhh- Nah- Well-? Maybe- *They pat the cat again* I mean I was just about to get that one over there- *They pointed to a male black cat with white spots* but- *Their gaze shifted to both of the cats* Ah, fridge it, ima get both of ‘em-

well, their personalities differ a lot. Sophie loves attention whereas Matches prefers little cuddles once in a while, basically they're an introvert and an exrtovert

Ellis: His name is Matches?! Okay hell yeah I’m keeping him- Also, I can’t just engage an entire conversation about our lives with this one *They gestured to Sophie* And just leave her hangin- But I also said I’d get him, and I don’t want to get his hopes up- Itd be pretty heartbreaking to be in their scenario if I just left them here, wouldn’t it?

yes. i think maybe if we kept the two together in a room for a while to get used to each other slowly...you may be able to take them home in a few days

Ellis: Let’s go! *They scratch the cat behind her ear, grinning*

want to help me set up a room for them?

Ellis: Hell. Yes! *They stand back up from crouching down to pet the cat*

follow me *heads to a different room with two doors and an animal door in between*

*Ellis happily followed, placing their hands in their pockets*

you help get the food and water stuff and i'll get the litter boxes in

Ellis: *After a bit, Ellis entered the room with food bowls filled with bottles of water on their hands, and kicking and entire bag of cat food in front of them*

Ellis: That it does! *They kick the bag forward*

woah! careful! you'll tear the bag!

Yuki: *Sitting on the floor, she has a bird on her arm that she's petting with her other hand*

dang! you're like a hungry wolf!

Yuki: hehe... I haven't eaten much today

Yuki: Yeah... It took me a bit to figure out how to put Crackers' cage together

*chuckles*

Yuki: *blushing embarrassed* I don't know why it was so difficult...

haha, that happened to me when i tried to set up the terrarium for my snake

Yuki: *looks up at her* you have a snake!

yeah! she's the sweetest. her name is Penelope and she's a little corn snake

Yuki: Could I meet her?

*goes to Jersey Mikes*

Yuki: *waiting for her outside*

Yuki: Heya, how's work?

good. two more little guys got adopted!

Yuki: That's good, every domestic animal deserves a good home

mhm. not all of out animals are supposed to be domestic. we got a deer a few months ago. poor thing had a broken leg, we fixed her right up. but she had been around people so long we couldn't send her back out into the wild, so she got adopted

Yuki: That's nice too, might be a bit difficult for the people who adopted her but good nonetheless

they were prepared. they live out in the countryside and have her trained to stay nearby. guess what her name was?

Yuki: what?

yeah. how's Crackers liking his new home?

Yuki: he's doing great, he's flying around checking things out, sitting on my head while I eat, fun bird stuff

haha, i was going to go get lunch at Jersey Mikes, wanna join me?

Yuki: Oh... sure! What time?

Yuki: Oh, I'll be there in a bit, just gotta set everything up for Crackers then I'll get going

Yuki: *turns on the TV and puts on some videos of birds, and puts Cracker in the cage with his toys and mirror* Ok be there in 5

Yuki: Bye *hangs up and gets to her car*

Yuki: *grabs her wallet* I'll pay for yours too

because i have money and i can pay for my own food

Yuki: so could I go to your house to meet your snake?

Sure!

Yuki: Woo! *grabs her arm pulling her* c'moooon I wanna see her!

Woah! Relax! *they go to her house*

*sits down at a table with her sub*

Yuki: *sits across from her eating her sub*

Yuki: it's good, how's yours?

Yuki: That's good... so why'd you start volunteering at the shelter?

i've always loved animals, and i swear it was like some invisible force pulled me to that shelter. since then i've been able to help all kinds of animals find homes from guinea pigs to foxes to salamanders!

Yuki: Perfect job for you then!

yep! *nom*

Yuki: *finishes her sub*

Yuki: I'm Yuki *stands up with crackers still on her shoulder* nice to meet you *puts her hand out for a shake*

*shakes it, holding the lizard with her other hand*

Yuki: I actually would like to take Crackers home, so do I need to sign any papers or...

yes, you have to pay the adoption fee and fill out a form. typical stuff, about the animal, about you, about your home and environment, if you're prepared to take care of a pet

Yuki: OK cool, should I get him a friend too so he's not lonely while I'm at my college classes?

maybe...or if you can't handle two birds, people oftentimes get their parakeets a mirror so they can talk to themselves

Yuki: That actually seems fun to see, I might do that, and play some stuff on the TV for when I'm gone

ok! all you need to do is fill out the form and pay the adoption fee!

Yuki: OK, that was pretty quick *starts signing the papers*

Yuki: *pays the fee with cash* and that's all, right?

yep! oh! also...*she gets a little metal cage out from under the desk* so you can take him home and take him other places. make sure not to open it. also if you don't want him to get out i'd suggest either holding the bar in place or getting a lock. he's sly

she likes you, she was trying to show affection, she had a bad owner previously so she's never done it before
