A boy lies on his couch, thinking to himself. At least, that’s what it looks like. His brain is actually totally empty. Anyways, a girl busts down the door to his room, cutely of course.
“I signed us up for a research program!” she joyfully exclaims. Silence. “Cmon Alain, you can’t just sit and sulk in your room all day, every day for the rest of your life!”
Alain, sits up. “I dunno. It’s not hard, and nothing’s stopped me yet. Now leave, Rika, and close the door on the way out. Also, I ate your cookies. They were delish.”
Rika frowns. “I don’t care about cookies, silly, I just want you to get out there and interact with people. Seriously, people think you’re weird.”
“Maybe I hate people and interaction. Honestly, I can’t stand them and their judgmental asses. Now screw off Rika.” Alain pulls out his phone, putting on music, and reaches for his headphones.
“Alain-“ Rika begins, just before a phone flies past her face.
“I SAID GET OUT,” Alain screams. He shoves her out, grabs his slightly dented phone, and slams the door in her face. A click follows.
Rika sighs. Scratching her head, she wonders, “How is he gonna make friends like this?” She walks into the living room where her and Alain’s roommate, Ned, is playing the new Warfield 2 game.
“Still running around killing people as a cat, Nerd?” She jokes.
“Yup. You should try it sometime. It’s a great game.” Ned replies with a straight face.
“Nah, I’ll kindly pass. Alain is being a pain in the ass.” Rika complains.
“When have you ever had a conversation with him where he wasn’t one?” Ned remarks.
“You’ve got a point,” Rika admits. “Anyway, they’re having that meeting online for new recruits, so unless you wanna be outta the loop on your first day, I recommend joining me.”
“Sure thing.”
