I could go all day on why the Democrats do better than the GOP for the country, but let's say for starters economic policy has been better under the Dems than under the GOP...
For recent politics, Biden only contributed debt because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, COVID-19, and lack of climate action from Trump. Yet under Trump, he contributed high amounts of debt from things like tax cuts.
If you want to go further, George W Bush (who became POTUS probably before you're born idk, he was POTUS between 2001-2009) and his policies made the GFC worse, which when Obama became POTUS, he got America out of the GFC (Global Financial Crisis).
If you want to know what the Global Financial Crisis is in one sentence, I can say that the GFC was a period of extreme financial market stress between mid-2007 and early 2009.
That's only part of the reason why the Democrats do better in economics, which is one of many issues they do better than the GOP.
