My theme for photo class this week was "water", so I set my camera on a tripod/timer and threw different things into a glass.

This reminds me of those videos where “people drop out from school to pursue photography, but horribly fail”, except this obviously isn’t a horrible fail at taking photos

I spent 45+ minutes taking over 100 of these photos, where you press the 2 second timer on your camera and then right before the shutter clicks you throw the object into the water, making a cool splash effect. I made sure to use the fastest shutter speed that I have (1/2000 sec) to make sure that the motion got captured. Out of all the photos I took, I only had about 5-6 keepers, since the failure rate in photography is extremely high. There was an entire pool of water on the counter afterwards though, but I needed a good background 😂

Couldn’t you just take a slow mo video and then watch it and screenshot the part that looks the coolest?

Nah that's not how it works. Taking photos has
1. Much higher quality
2. A flash, which I can't use on video mode (like all cameras), (my camera needs to use flash so can get good enough lighting.
3. It's just easier
4. Video is often lower resolution than still images
5. When shooting, its a lot easier to just take a single photo rather than sifting through 30 frames each second.

There's many more reasons but those are the main ones for me at least.

It's a lemon, but yeah it did for this shot.
Sometimes it didn't go in, and I even knocked the cup over once, spilling all the water.
